How to Optimize Links in Blogger?

This is the last part of our series on Blogger SEO PACK 2012 series and it will help to remove great misconceptions and wrong seo concepts that are unfortunately spreading like fire everywhere. As Google, Bing and Yahoo continues to make search experience more trustworthy and neat and clean by removing all spammy and non-trusty sites, SEO has become the most famous name for webmasters.
Since blogging is mostly about publishing fresh links to these search engines therefore it is important that you must equip your links with proper rel link attributes. Blogger is pretty different when it comes to labels. In wordpress we have categories and then sub categories that are called tags. Tags were introduced in wordpress so that pages could be provided a much deep navigation. However we don't have sub categories in blogger, what we have are called Labels. These labels in SEO terms can be called simply Tags. You attach tags to your posts to categorize posts. Don't confuse your selves with categories, labels and tags, they are all considered the same by search engines and can be described as category links.

How important are links?

Search engine optimization revolves around optimizing mainly links. Your SERP ranking which is your ranking search engine results Page is depends largely on your meta tags, incoming and outgoing links. Links are hyperlinks that takes visitor from one page to another or from one section of your blog to another. Search Engine automatic programs called crawlers or spiders give great importance to links in any page. Your Page Rank juice flows in and out depending on how well are you linking. If you are linking to poor, low quality sites then on next PageRank update is that your PageRank would badly suffer. PageRank is responsible for telling Google how important your blog is and how faster it should be crawled and given importance. Your PageRank surely improves when others link-back(recommend) to you but you can loose the same PageRank by linking to low quality sites or sites that does not belong to your niche (blog topic).
To understand which sites you should link and which to avoid, please read:

When should you Tag external links as nofollow?
Nofollow links like DEMO, Download and Iframe Pages

But what about internal links? Can links on your blog effect your Blog indexing and Search ranking? Of Course!
All pages inside your blog are treated as separate web pages when it comes to PageRank juice flow. Archives like labels and comment links can badly produce crawl errors and makes the job difficult for search spiders to crawl your blog content/data. To make spider job easy you must act like a Traffic police by directing crawlers what to index, crawl and flow PR juice to. This is our aim of this tutorial and we will be turning your free blogger blogs into highly optimized webpages. But first lets learn some basics and wrong concepts shared widely these days.

Some Correct and Wrong SEO Concepts

I would personally except the fact that during my early stage of blogging, I personally shared some wrong SEO concepts and I used to learn them online from other fellow bloggers, but after becoming a certified SEO, most of my concepts related to how search engines work are now pretty clear. The information shared today is a result of thorough research and study, so you can confidently apply this tutorial to all your current blogs. Lets first discuss how links are structured and then share some wrong ways of optimizing them.

<a href='http://wikandatu.blogspot.com'>link</a>

This is a naked link with no link attributes. To optimize this link in order to tell search engines how much value should be given to the link you shared, most webmasters are using pretty strange ways.

Correct Concepts

These are rel link attributes that are validated by w3 (World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)) and search engines:
rel="nofollow"
For telling robots that though you are linking a webpage but you don't trust it or recommend it as a quality publishing website.
rel="external nofollow"
This has exact similar meaning as that of nofollow attribute but the word external tells robot that the linking is pointing outwards. In most SEO forums, its also discussed that it has the same effect as that of target="_blank". Target blank is an HTML attribute that opens a link in new window and external nofollow does the same. But this is not true because if you click any comment link on this blog or any other wordpress blog using "external nofollow", you will observe that the link opens in the same tab. What I understand is that the difference between nofollow and "external nofollow" is that they both have the same effect but "external nofollow" is a better approach to use when the link is pointing out-words i.e Should be added to outgoing links you don't trust.

Submit Your Blogger to Yahoo & Bing

Sitemap submission to Yahoo was previously done using Yahoo Site Explorer but just last year on 21 Nov 2011 Yahoo completed algorithmic transition to Bing. Yahoo merged site explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools with a partnership contract. From then onwards webmasters were requested to submit sitemaps to Bing in order to expect quality traffic from both yahoo and Bing.

Site Explorer was launched in 2005 by Tim Mayer and it was a pretty handy tool to keep a close watch on how your site was performing at yahoo search engine. You could get detailed info on how many sites were linking you and could also count the total number of internal links within your site. But since now Yahoo has joined hands with Bing search engine by Microsoft, our job becomes even more easy, because submitting your blog at Bing will set it live at two search engines, i.e. both Bing and yahoo. Previously MSN did not required sitemap and you only needed to submit your link to them by pinging them but with the replacement of MSN search engine by latest BING, Microsoft is now openly following Google's footsteps.

Submit Your Blog URL To BING and YAHOO
Follow these easy steps:

  1. Log into Bing Webmaster Tools using your hotmail account
  2. Once logged in you will see a dashboard with several options. Click the button " Add Site" next to "Remove site button".
  3. Submit your URL.
  4. lick Submit. Now you will be asked to verify if you are the true owner of the website or blog you submitted. You will be provided three standard methods. Choose the second option which is "Copy and paste a tag in your default webpage" Click option:2
  5.  You will be given a short HTML code. Simply copy it and paste the code just below inside your blogger template. To do this go to:
    • Blogger > Design > Edit HTML > Backup your template
    • Search for
    • Just below it paste the code you got from BING
    • Save your template. All done!
  6. Now go back to BING webmaster page and click the "Verify" Button. If you pasted the code correctly then your sitemap will be successfully added to the list.
  7. Normally it should take at most 3 days for BING and YAHOO to start showing data for your newly submitted site but it can even take 5 days. So be patient and expect your blog links appearing in BING and YAHOO search engines within 3-5 days.
You will then be able to track organic traffic to your blogs via your webmaster account which is almost similar to Google Webmaster tools account. You can find who is linking and what posts are trending high and a lot more!

    Goal Oriented Blogging

You're here, so you probably blog right? Well, have you asked yourself on what is your goal in blogging? Some say for money, some say for hobby, while some say for fame. But no matter what's the reason for setting up a blog there should always be a goal for setting it up. In this post, we'll discuss things that makes your blogging career has a sense of direction,

    Set a Constant Goal
When we say constant it means fixed. In order to achieve something, you need to have a fixed goal. You don't need to change everytime. Changing of goals will just get you back to the beginning again and again. Also keep in mind that when you think your goal is not with the flow of the latest. All you need to do is to continue what you've started. With this i'm sure that you can easily achieve your goals because you are on a fixed road to the fixed finish line.

    Maximize the Possibilities
Search more and more content to make your blog more attractive and filled. Improve it's quality, tead more books, blogs and try to improve what you think needs an improvement. Market your blog or invite more readers through social medias, make them believe that your blog is worth reading for. be an active blogger by participating discussions on blogs worth reading, this will help not only for gaining visitors but for gaining some profile on the blogosphere. You can also pay for an advertisement or perhaps manage a blogging contest. Maximizing every possible possibilities will direct you to a more achievable goal.

    Connect Life to Blogging
Readers that will be checking a blog if it satisfies them. Without this satisfaction they will not really maintain their support to a blog. Bloggers and readers are the same. All people have similarities and these similarities will be your key in making your readers believe in your ability.
One way also of connecting to your readers is by connecting with them through talking with them. One big mistake is being not able to connect with readers.

Those things are just few things in making your goals/dreams turn in to reality. I hope you'll enjoy your career and continue sharing your passion.

    Some Wrong Ideas About SEO

    Wrong SEO Ideas
Search engine optimization is one of the main factors of making your blog profitable. For years, millions of people tried to make their site optimized for search engines and hope for the best. But sadly, only a very few of these people really succeeded on making their site SEO worth it.
You might be wondering why and how right? Well, the main reason for a lot of people to fail in making their site productive is that they have fallen into SEO misconceptions and myths, and that's what I'll talk about in this post.

-Being on the first page of Google means I was successful on search engine optimizing my site.
Absolutely no! For some it could be yes, but if you hit first page on Google on a keyword that people don't even used to search your site for, then it is totally useless.

-My site is losing traffic, Google must be penalizing it.
Nope. Well, Google do penalize site for some heavy and valid reasons (like scam sites, pornography, etc.). But most of the time, your site is losing traffic because of your misled in constantly optimizing and updating your site's content.

-If a lot of traffic flow into my site, It would mean that I will make huge profit.
Well, think again! Having a lot of traffic flow on your site does not guarantee any profit especially if the traffic you get was un-targeted or you don't have a call to action on your site for the potential customer to take to. Remember, it's the amount of targeted traffic that counts!

-Any incoming links are productive and beneficial.
Not really! Search engine only accounts valid and not fraudulent incoming links. They only record incoming links from reputed sites (sites with pagerank) that has no record of penalty before.

-Parked domains that have been inactive for years have greater value than new ones.
Could be true, but it does not help you with search engines. It's a long myth that most people thought inactive domain names are profitable or easy to rank, but the fact is that search engine gives no credit at all to "inactive or parked" domain names, they only give credit to those with real contents.

And that's it folks! some wrong ideas that was previously thought on search engine optimization. Try not to fall into one of these and make your way to the search engine's first page.

Getting the Right Connection With Your Readers

    right connection
One of the main goals of creating a succesful business blog is to have many readers as possible. But how? Is it possible to have 100,000 readers a month? Yes, of course it is possible. When starting a new blog you should consider things that can make your blog connect to the social media.

Writing and writing lots of posts can’t really help you achieve it. There are things more than writing that can boost your full potential as a blogger. But how? By exploring the world of web, more specifically the blogosphere and letting others know about your blog.

The first thing you need to consider in order to have a remarkable blog is that you have to let others know about it that your blog exists. You need to do is expose yourself to what people are busy about and that can easily help you be recognized as a Blogger, Why not start on the social media arena?

Below are some tips on how to have a perfect connection with your blog readers, as your blog audience is the biggest factor if you want your blog to be successful.

How to have a Perfect Connection with your Readers?

-You should have a Blog niche that can surely be related by the interest of the many as it will be worthless if your blog's niche is very specific and has a few potential readers.

-You should update your blog regularly. This will keep your readers from coming back to your blog so that they can stay updated about all of your lates posts.

-You should try to make a rapport with your fellow Bloggers especially bloggers that has the same niche as yours. Joining several blogging networks will help you because with this you can improve your ability as a Blogger and will build up your profile.

Cigar Caddy Crystal Gel Humidification Jar

Store and show off your cigar collection with this gorgeous desktop humidor from Quality Importers. The glass-top Capri has a smaller size that holds between 25 and 50 cigars. It comes completely lined with premium kiln-dried Spanish cedar and features SureSeal Technology ensures a airtight seal and optimum humidity control. Other features include a scratch-resistant felt-lined bottom, gold-plated hidden quadrant hinges, engravable brass nameplate, tempered glass top, and one round humidifier. It's completed with a mahogany finish and front-mounted glass hygrometer with brass ring. It measures 10-5/16 by 8-3/4 by 4-5/16 inches (WxDxH).

Humidors are designed to achieve the proper storing conditions of cigars for storing over an extended period of time, with an ideal humidity of 60 to 70 percent and temperature between 65 and 70 degrees. Spanish-cedar is the most frequently used wood for the interior veneer of humidors as it holds more moisture than most woods as well as imparts its aroma to cigars.

The capri glass top desktop humidor comes completely lined with premium kiln-dried spanish cedar and features quality importer's sureseal technology to insure proper lid seal on closure. It has a scratch-resistant felt-lined bottom, gold-plated hidden quadrant hinges, engravable brass nameplate and one round humidifier (unless otherwise noted).

    • Product Dimensions: 2 x 2 x 2 inches
    • Shipping Weight: 2.4 ounces (View shipping rates and policies)
    • Shipping: This item is also available for shipping to select countries outside the U.S.
    • Origin: China
This item is nice for desktop humidors because you don't have to add the distilled water / alcohol mix to the conventional ones. You just take the cap off, drop it in there and add water once the beads get below the line. Too easy. The problem I have had with them is that if you live in a dry climate they will only bring humidity levels to about 40%. I would recommend going with two of them instead of just one.

I live in dry-as-a-bone Colorado, so I need to keep a lot of moisture in my humidor. I use two of these in a 50 cigar box and they keep it steady at 70% for about 2 weeks before they need a refill. I'm happy with that!

    The Capri 25-50 Cigar Humidor

    Holds up to 25 Cigars
    Round Humidifier
Lined with Premium Kiln Dried Spanish Cedar
    Gold Plated Hidden Quadrant Hinges
    Mahogany Finish

This humidor is perfect for the cigar lover who doesn't have a huge collection. This humidor has all the essentials to keep your cigars in perfect condition for years to come. The beautiful mahagony finish will look nice in any decor. There are lots of companies selling this humidor out there, that is because it is a really good box for the money. But our price is the best, and I am really funny, so surely that has to count for something?

I actually bought two of these humidors. I bought one for a favorite uncle of mine that smokes cigars, and was having one of those big turning 70 parties. I was at his house one night and noticed that his was starting to fall apart. Knowing how cheap he is, I knew that he would never get a new one for himself, (nor would his family, for they are cheap too). I started out looking in cigar stores for a humidor but very quickly learned that it was definitely not the place to go if you don't want begin at a $100 minimum. This very same one I happen to find at a local smoke shop, and paid more for it there than it is currently being offered at here on Amazon. And I still feel I got my moneys worth. This humidor is very solidly built, and heavy. The mahogany finish is thick and very nicely polished. It is very rich and expensive looking, far beyond what it actually cost. My uncle was thrilled with it, and even told me that I shouldn't have spent so much on him. (Assuming of course that I got it at a cigar store and took a bath on it). I picked up one of those brass name plates at a local craft store and had his initials printed on it. Mounting it with brass screws was a cinch, and it made the box look even more stylish. He was most pleased...

I ended up returning to the smoke shop and buying one for myself to store both incense in, and to store my pipe tobacco pouches. I like filling my leather pipe pouches with tobacco and keeping them ready to go, rather than storing loose tobacco in a tin, or pipe humidor. This humidor not only looks classy and handsome on my desk, but it's also excellent at what its supposed to do. I drop about a tablespoon of water in the moistener about once a week, and my tobacco is always fresh and ready to burn. I also keep various incense bricks in the box for they burn slower and sweeter when kept from completely drying out.

I highly recommend this handsome, quality built humidor either for yourself, or as a gift for the tobacco user in your family. And I also recommend buying it here on Amazon, for the price is excellent. There is no question that there are far more expensive and quality humidors to be had, here on Amazon and at many other places. If you, or your intended are a serious cigar smoker who is used to nothing but the best as far as cigars or tobacco is concerned, perhaps hiking up your budget a smidgen and skipping this choice would be a good idea. On the other hand, if you're on a budget like most of us, but still enjoy a good cigar, or know someone that does, this humidor will make a very handsome gift, or a fine addition for your own pleasure. It is much more expensive looking than it actually will cost you, and in my opinion will last you for just as many years as some of the cigar store high end models...

This is a fantastic humidor. I've seen the same exact model selling for $70 at a fine smoke shop. It is well crafted. The finish is done well and looks very classy.

The inside is fully Spanish cedar lined, very important. The accessories are worthless, but they always are, even in more expensive humidors. You should use a digital hygrometer and humidity beads if you are serious about keeping your cigars well kept.

Says it fits up to 50 cigars, but I've got more than that in there right now, mostly smaller ones, but I'm guessing it would fit 50 churchills or probably 100 petite coronas at least.

    excellent buy!

    Xikar Xi1 Cigar Cutter Titanium

    XI1 Cutter, Titanium
Titanium Colored Aluminum Body HRC55 Stainless Steel Blade in a Spring-Loaded Ergonomic Shap

I wanted something better than the $4 cutter found at every tobacco store and gas station because they kept crushing my cigars rather than cutting them. I'm only an occasional (about 1 a month) cigar smoker so it didn't make sense for me to buy a $100 cigar cutter but this one was a good price and the quality has been excellent. I got the Titanium one and I really like the solid feel, it keeps the blades very close to eachother as they slide in which is critical in getting a smooth cut without pinching the cigar. I learned to twist the cigar as the blades made contact with it when I was using the cheap cutters and I continue to do this with the Xikar although it is plenty sharp and it isn't necessary it has simply become a habit.

Like any good, quality item I recommend maintaining it for the best longevity, the best way to do this is to keep the blade clear of any debris. It also travels well as the built in locking mechanism keeps it closed at all times and it fits in a pocket watch sized pocket in slacks and jeans. I would recommend this cutter to anyone who appreciates good cigars and is tired of ruining them with a poorly built, dull cutter.

I bought my cutter few years ago. Worked flawlessly until it locked up and wouldn't open anymore. So I sent it back to Xikar. After a month, I wondered where my cutter was. Took me a week to get in touch with someone at the office, but finally determined that USPS sent it back to KC. They overnighted the cutter back to me after confirming my address. When I got my replacement cutter, it also had issues. I sent it back...after another month, and many posts on their FB page. I finally got it back. Except this time they sent me a silver and not a titanium. Don't really care actually, just glad I finally got a working cutter. While all this was going on, I got tired of using my punch so I bought a $16 Cuban Crafters cutter. My only regret with that is, I wish I bought one sooner. Their policy also states that you will get your return within a week.

In short, if u don't mind that slow customer service at Xikar, then get their cutter. But IMO, their cutters are overpriced and the customer service has a lot of room for improvement. My score would have been higher if it weren't for the CS and having to return my replacement.

Tommy Bahama 3 Piece Men's Cigar Cologne Gift Set

Set Sail St. Barts, Signature, Set sail Martinique Size: .5 fL.oz 15 mL.
best cigar with best box and best for gift.

I ordered this for my friend and thought ....maybe it will be used or not in good shape. Was I wrong....he loved it and I actually ordered another one for my boyfriend the very next week.

Fast shipping. Decent price. But the box looked like it was maybe a display box. Had several nicks/ scratches. Doesn't look very presentable. Disappointed in looks. I kept it but instead of displaying it on my dresser it resides in a bathroom drawer. Disappointing!

    Perfecto Cigar Cutter

    Product Features
    Lifetime Warranty
Automatically cut the exact amount of tobacco from your cigar including Figurado and Torpedo shaped cigars
Self-sharpening double blades are made with surgical grade stainless steel
Cut cigar ring gauges of up 54
    Elegant gift box include

This this sleek and functional cigar cutter is a great way to start your smoke off right. The cutter is made from solid, surgical grade stainless steel and features O-shaped handles for an easy cut. This unique designed blade had a calibrated chamber where you insert the cigar to cut of the exact amount every time. This self-sharpening, guillotine cutter is great to keep on hand at all times and easily fits in your pocket.
I have a handful of $1-2 cutters which should just be burned and have a nice Xikar cutter which costs several times what this cutter costs and which I use only at home because I am afraid to take it out with me and lose it.

Enter the cuban crafters cutter... I had heard it was nice, and for 13 bucks, why not try it. At worst, I'm out the price of a nice cigar, and at best, I now have a new traveling cutter.

I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised when I got the cutter in the mail. The packaging for the cutter alone was nicely done. The cutter itself is very solid and has a good weight to it, feels like it can withstand some heavy usage.

The cutter has a back to it to prevent people from cutting too much off the cigar. For those with torpedoes, it has a small hole to give more space to handle the torpedo tip. I found that I needed to cut a torpedo twice in order to get the desired cut to the cigar. While slightly annoying to have to cut twice, the quality of the cut won me over... crisp, clean and smooth.

In summary, want a superb cigar cutter that costs a fraction of the other popular cutters? Want a cutter with solid build and superb clean cuts? And lastly, want a cutter you won't bang your head against a wall if you leave at a bar or party?

.... then this is your cutter.

You can now save your partially smoked cigar for later without ruining its taste with the Cigar Save It. Inside this attractive tube there is a cigar snuffer that extinguishes your cigars immediately and keeps it safe until you are ready to finish it. Telescopes to hold any cigar size up to 6 1/2 inches long and 54 ring gauge. The tube fits nicely inside your pocket.

Great device for when you get interrupted while enjoying your favorite cigar. Recently, when visiting my in laws, I decided to step out for a cigar. Of course half way through my 1926 Padron my wife and her mother had come home and were ready to head out to dinner. Grumbling about my bad timing, I had a few more puffs then gave a nice exhale through the cigar(to clear out smoke within the tobacco)and slipped it into the cigar saver. Later that evening I was able to spark my cigar back up. I was happy to be able to finish my cigar, it was like I had only stepped away from it for a few min.
I am a regular cigar smoker, so this item is a very necessary accessory. I can be interrupted while enjoying my favorite smoke and keep the rest for later. The cigar saver works well, but the top of the unit seems to be made of a very flimsy plastic. I don't think the hinge will last long. When I saw the description I assumed the unit was made of a heavy plastic or metal. It's made of plastic, but not as heavy as it looks. The lid and lid hinge is made of a very flimsy plastic, that gives very easily if pushed on. It is OK for the price. If you want a premium unit pay the premium price.

    Ingredients
Notes of bergamot lavender and vetiver blended with woods and jasmine.

    Directions
Important: Keep in cool dry places.
I am writing this approximately 20 minutes after opening the package. Overall, I am very satisfied with the scents and product. I am not an expert in cologne, but here's how I perceive the four fragrances:

In order of best to worst (though none of them were terrible):

    1. BLUE - Similar to a common, standard, and reliable scent that you'd find at Macy's. In other words, as soon as I smelled it, I felt that I had smelled it before. That's not a bad thing in my opinion since a cologne represents you and you want to avoid really off-the-path scents. Even though the scent was common, it works.

    2. (TIE) ORANGE and GOLD - GOLD is also Macy's-ish but a little more unique. I'd say it has a slightly "heavier" scent (hard to explain) and it also reminds me of a food scent I can't seem to place.

ORANGE - is more light, citrus-y, and has some other tone that I just can't place. It is probably the most uni-sex scent of the bunch. It's more unique than GOLD or BLUE and I keep finding myself going back to smell it.

    3. RED - I'd place this one last, but not because it's bad. It's just strong and musty. My first impression was that I didn't like it, but after a few more goes, I determined it's something I would wear (just not as often as the other three). I see this one as a riskier play; a more polarizing fragrance.

Lastly, one of the spays (GOLD) wouldn't spray at first. I had to keep pressing it, but all that would come out where heavy drop of the cologne. I actually gave up, but when I went back to it later to make a better tester, it started working. All four sprays have a look of high quality (stickers and caps) and come in nice glass shaped cigars.

I will update this after my wife smells them (I won't tell her I'm testing them).

    Capri-Glasstop (Quality Importers Desktop Humidor)

    Product Features

    Style Name: Capri-Glasstop

Small desktop humidor with mahogany finish; holds between 25 and 50 cigars
Lined with premium kiln-dried Spanish cedar for excellent aroma and moisture retention
Gold-plated corner hardware on lid with front-mount clasp lock; scratch-resistant felt-lined bottom
Tempered glass top; front-mount glass hygrometer with brass ring
Measures 10-5/16 by 8-3/4 by 4-5/16 inches (WxDxH)

I will start by saying that yes, this is an attractive box to store your smokes in. The glass top is a nice touch. It feels heavy and the lid closes tight with some good weight to it as well. I dont mind having this on display in my living room. Seems to hold about 40 cigars or so. Maybe you could squeeze in 50 if they were a bit smaller gauge. Now there is really only one negative for me. Its a pretty big negative which is why my rating went from a 5 to a 3 star

The Hygrometer does NOT come attached to the humidor. It comes in a separate little box along with the humidifier. Sounds like no biggie, right? Well I really cant believe noone else has said this, but the Hygrometer doesnt fit properly in the hole in the from of the humdor. It comes with a Magnet for the back of it, but if you try to use the magnet to hold it in place, A- it will not read correctly, B- It does not seal tight or proper. It just kinda hangs there waiting to get bumped so you have to adjust it again. It came with a rubber ring around the base which made it so I could not even push it in the hole in from of the humidor. afer I removed the rubber ring it was simply too loose. wiggling around and not sealed proper, with a cheap magnet holding it in place.

My solution was to Super Glue the hygrometer to the humidor. Now it is in place and not moving around. I think I set it well enough to keep the humidity in pretty good. So now that it is GLUED in place it is totally just for looks. It reads at just over 50% humidity no matter what I do. Bah, whatever. I have a humidity stick in there so i know the cigars are fine, but the hygrometer is usless and a pain in the arse. Really just dissapointing that it did not come already attached to the damn humidor. I would not buy another one. Ill make sure to research better in the future. But it serves its purpose now, and looks attractive enough.
